Sale Prices Vs. Everday Low Prices

Published by nannettenicole at 10:16 am under Grocery Savings Tips Edit This

Yesterday was the first day back working at my small discount grocery store. While our store is by far the cheapest store in our town, I sometimes have people tell me that a certain item is on sale cheaperĀ  or for the same price at a different store. This is a comment that can sometimes be infuriating to me.

Yes, sometimes large stores will mark an item ridiculously low in order to get you to come to their store and buy that item, and when you go there you will most likely get all of your other items at the same time. Who wants to spend their day driving from store to store? This is what supermarkets count on. You will come in the door for the cheap cereal and load up on all the overpriced other goodies. Dropping over a hundred dollars usually. It’s a smart marketing technique that almost always works.

While our store has the item priced at the same sale price all the time and all the other items in the store, they are really cheap too. So you end up saving much more that you would have by buying that single item for 5 cents cheaper at the big stores.

How does this apply to you? Don’t be lured into more expensive stores by flashy low priced gimmicks unless you are prepared to buy only those items that are on sale or you will end up wasting your hard earned money. Instead, find a store near you that has overall lower prices and consistently shop there. You will save more money on your groceries in the long run.
